FWPA’s ninth Annual General Meeting was held in Melbourne on 5 October 2017, with a focus on the election of members to the Board of Directors, as well as on mandatory financial statements and reports.
During the day’s proceedings, Jim Henneberry, Christine Briggs and Brian Farmer were unanimously re-elected as non-executive directors. The vote came after a formal selection process in which five candidates were shortlisted from 19 applications. The goal of the process was, as per the FWPA Constitution, to ensure a ‘balanced and skills-based board’.
Jim is currently the Chair of both Timberlands Pacific and Circa Group, and a former Chief Executive Officer of Australian Paper. He has a strong global track record in leading large, complex, private and public businesses, and in balancing an operational focus with strong strategic leadership.
Christine is General Manager, Marketing and Business Development for Timberlink Australia. She brings high-level sales and marketing skills to the Board. Her commercial skills and experience in market and promotional strategy development in timber supply chain operations are considered to be highly desirable in the current forest and wood products environment.
Brian is the current Chief Executive Officer of HQ Plantations. He is well known and respected for his achievements in forest management, domestic and international marketing and strong corporate governance activity. Both public and private policy development at regional, state and national levels have featured in his career.
Ric Sinclair, Managing Director of FWPA, said he is delighted to welcome Jim, Christine and Brian back to the Board.
“Each brings with them a unique set of skills which are vital to ensuring our Board is best equipped to help FWPA continue to successfully determine strategy and deliver programs designed to grow the market for forest and wood products,” he said.
The Board also agreed to increase the remuneration of the Chair and Directors, in line with that of other rural Research and Development Corporations and the CPI.
At a board meeting following the AGM, John Simon was re-elected as Chairman by the directors.
