The globally renowned International Educators Institute (IEI) forestry programme is coming to Australia for a two-day conference in May featuring the World Forestry Center’s Rick Zenn. The event is being organised by FWPA’s school education initiative, ForestLearning.
FWPA invites professionals working in forestry, wood processing and products, education, communications, government, natural resource management, universities, schools and more to attend the course in Canberra.
Anyone can benefit who wishes to improve their understanding of effective communications, teaching and learning about the interrelated social, economic and environmental challenges facing the earth’s forests, and how this relates to an Australian sustainable forest and wood system.
Senior Fellow at World Forestry Center, Rick Zenn will be facilitating this two-day program for the first time outside of the USA, in conjunction with VicForests’ Liz Langford, PF Olsen’s Phil Lacey and other Australian alumni of the Oregon, USA program.
Participants will receive:
- Content-rich, hands-on experiences outdoors with an exchange of best practices in forest and wood education
- User-friendly educational materials and media
- Individual and small group exercises, to capture and share their learning experience with colleagues, organisations and communities at home
- Guided tours through a variety of forest types planted within The National Arboretum, Canberra
- Insights on different perspectives on teaching and learning, sustainable forestry practices, effective communication and practical strategies – using contexts of sustainable forestry and wood products within schools and community groups, forest conservation, biodiversity and climate change
- greater passion, knowledge and skills to communicate with your own community about sustainable forestry practices and wood products
- access to the ForestLearning Industry Education Champion Program post-workshop.
The IEI is a leading professional development program for people in forestry, wood processing, education, research, natural resource management and strategic communication.
