Biophilia research continues to support promotion of the benefits of wood in the workplace

World-first research funded by FWPA demonstrating the strong association between wood in the workplace and increased worker satisfaction and wellbeing continues to generate positive awareness.

Conducted by market research firm Pollinate  with additional analysis by the University of Canberra, the research provides fresh evidence to underpin the business case for biophilia in potentially boosting demand for timber in office fit-outs. It has so far resulted in excellent media items, as well as the creation of a podcast and video.

Articles have appeared in print publications such as the Australian Financial Review and HR Monthly, online outlets including Green Magazine, Business Recycling, Friday Offcuts, Build Australia and the Australian Institute of Building, as well as various other timber-focused publications. The media push resulted in a significant reach of almost 265,000 people.

The research also provided strong content for FWPA’s digital channels LinkedIn and Facebook, resulting in nearly 8,000 views, likes, comments and shares.

What’s more, the first episode of the inaugural series of FWPA’s new podcast WoodChat will focus on a discussion with Associate Professor Jacki Schirmer of the University of Canberra, who details the research and what the findings could mean for the forest and wood products industry in the future.

Jacki’s interview was also filmed, with the footage set to be used for a number of purposes including screenings at conferences and further social media promotion.

The research has also been used to inform a new TV commercial featuring architect Peter Maddison, the host of Grand Designs Australia.
