Comprehensive guide for the design of tall wood buildings

FPInnovations has released the first edition of the ‘Technical Guide for the Design and Construction of Tall Wood Buildings in Canada’. The purpose of this guide is to support the design and construction of tall wood buildings and to provide information to industry and Government on alternative solutions in building codes.

More than 80 technical professionals have been involved in the development of this guide. Many of the tall wood buildings covered are beyond the height and area limits currently found in many national building codes around the world.

The guide is intended to be used by experienced design and construction teams. In particular, this provides the concepts and background information necessary to respond to the questions that arise when designing beyond the height and area limits prescribed by the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC).
