WoodSolutions has recently updated and expanded its popular resource on Environmental Public Declarations (EPDs), as well as publishing new guides on: how to comply with construction codes when building in aged care; using timber for garden retaining walls; and office fit-out systems using wood.
New WoodSolutions resources include:
- Environmental Public Declarations (EPDs) – the existing five have been updated (Softwood Timber, Hardwood Timber, Particleboard, MDF, Plywood) and a new EPD published on Glulam. An EPD is a standardised and verified way of quantifying the environmental impacts of a product based on a consistent set of rules that have been developed through an extensive stakeholder consultation process.
- WoodSolutions Guide #41 Timber Garden Retaining Walls – a guide to designing, building and maintaining timber garden retaining walls up to on metre in height for architects, designers, builders, landscapers and experienced ‘DIY’ers’.
- WoodSolutions Guide #42 Building Code of Australia (BCA) Deemed to Satisfy Solutions for Timber Aged Care Buildings (Class 9c) – provides information and options available to comply with the BCA, using timber structural systems for Class 9c buildings. The guide covers fire and acoustic requirements as well as providing timber-based design and construction solutions. It includes information on designing and building with traditional timber framing, post and beam and panel systems.
- WoodSolutions Guide #43 Reimagining Wood-based Office Fitout Systems – the average office furnishing cycle of ‘fitout, strip out, repeat’ is all too familiar, and expensive, to office occupiers. It is also a wasteful process, ripe for disruption. Using open-source designs that incorporate the latest design and manufacturing technology, this guide explains new timber options and their benefits.
