Plywood, particleboard and MDF Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) launched

An environmental product declaration (EPD) is a standardised and verified way of quantifying the environmental impacts of a product based on a consistent set of rules.

EPDs are a valuable tool for designers and developers using more wood products in order to seek environmental accreditation through the Green Star program.

EPDs for Australian wood products were authored by the Timber Development Association and thinkstep and independently verified by Catalyst. The EPDs for Australian particleboard, medium density fibreboard and plywood complement those for Softwood and Hardwood that have already been published. The EPD program operator is The Australasian EPD Programme Ltd.
