Supporting young research talent in forestry

FWPA is once again sponsoring a category at the Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Run by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES), the awards will see young agricultural researchers receive grants to support their projects. The Forest and Wood Products Award category is funded by FWPA, which will also be involved in the final selection process.

“Sponsoring this award aligns with FWPA’s commitment to supporting research and development within the forests and wood products industry,” said Ric Sinclair, FWPA Managing Director.

“Each year as we review the submissions, it is inspiring to see so many young scientists undertaking such important projects. I am confident the contribution made by these young researchers will advance the forestry industry and keep us at the forefront of research and development.”

The grants of up to $22,000 enable some of Australia’s brightest young scientists to undertake projects on emerging issues, contributing to the success of their sectors.

If you’re aged between 18 and 35 and have a research project that meets the criteria, this is a great chance to have your work recognised and funded! Submissions are open until 2 October 2020.
