Value of Alterations and Additions Remains Stable

The value of alterations and additions to Australian dwellings was stable through the September Quarter of 2014, at AUD1.787 Billion, less than AUD1M lower than the prior quarter.

On an annualized basis, for the year-ended September 2014, the total value of additions and alterations rose to AUD8.91 Billion, just AUD6M higher than the prior corresponding period.

While the stability is encouraging, it is notable that it cycled through a lower period in 2012 and 2013 as Residential Dwelling Approvals also troughed and commenced their current period of strength. This is displayed in the chart below, which comes from the FWPA Data Dashboard.
