Watch now – how electronic tags enhance construction benefits of prefab timber

In this short video, Perry Forsythe, Professor of Construction Management at the University of Technology Sydney, talks about how the advantages of prefabricated timber systems in construction are being given a boost by radio-frequency identification (RFID) tracking technology.

FWPA-supported research has involved testing the value proposition associated with attaching small, computerised tags to timber construction elements manufactured off-site, to improve processes on-site.

On the benefits of the technology, Professor Forsythe said: “Productivity, that’s the bottom line. You can get more done in a shorter time. Less process waste, less waiting around, less inspecting time, less confusion and improved workflow.”
