Wood encouragement policies gaining traction in Western Australia

Promoted by Planet Ark through their Make it Wood campaign, Wood Encouragement Policies (WEP) aim to increase the use of wood and wood products by local government.

A WEP presentation in November 2015 to the WA Local Government Association Southwest Zone meeting was well attended by 28 local government representatives – Shire Presidents, CEO’s and Mayors. 

Presentations by the WoodSolutions technical team on wood inspiration and development of mass timber construction received an enthusiastic response, as did the Planet Ark presentation on the environmental benefits of using wood. At least four WA Councils indicated they would like to progress discussions on the implementation of WEP.
