Finland-based entrepreneurs have come up with a wood-based bag in response to the continued environmental impact from plastic bags. Paptic has looked to combine the best aspects of plastic and paper in creating the new product.
The wood-based bags have plastic-like properties, including stretchability and sealability, and it does not tear like paper. In addition, while it withstands splashes, the bags biodegrade completely in water. 80% of the raw materials used are renewable, with the main one being Finnish pulp.
Paptic has now launched its first product made of the new material and estimates that producing Paptic-bags on a commercial scale would be as energy efficient as the manufacture of plastic bags.
