2014 Australian Timber Design Awards
Now in their fifteenth year, the Australian Timber Design Awards (ATDA) are distinguished by a proud heritage of innovation and achievement, with past winners representing the best of Australia’s architects and building designers.
The Awards were announced during a presentation dinner at Sydney’s Maritime Museum on September 18th. The judges commented on the high overall standard of entries and commended all entrants on the quality of their work.
The overall winner’s Award, sponsored by WoodSolutions, was the Dandenong Mental Health Facility, which also won the Excellence in Timber Design – Multi Residential – New Buildings award.
The 2014 Awards featured the inaugural Excellence in Timber Design – Sustainability award, sponsored by Planet Ark’s Make It Wood campaign, won by Melbourne’s The Library at the Dock, entered by Lend Lease and designed by architects Clare Design and Hayball.

World Conference in Timber Engineering 2014 Tour
A group of twelve undergraduate and postgraduate engineering students and recent graduates attended the World Conference on Timber Engineering in Quebec, Canada in August.
This industry-leading conference is an opportunity to inform young engineers about the international innovations in timber engineering and inspire them to include it in the repertoire of materials as they embark on their professional careers.

WOOD: art design architecture
Wood. Naturally Better.™ is the Principal Sponsor of WOOD: art design architecture, a two year touring exhibition developed by Adelaide’s Jam Factory in collaboration with the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. It features 28 exhibitors and a 247 page catalogue.
The exhibition explores innovative and outstanding ways that artists, designers and architects in Australia are using wood.
