WoodSolutions webinar attendance hits impressive milestone, industry members give glowing reviews!

WoodSolutions’ successful series of webinar events continues to go from strength to strength; total attendances recently surpassed an impressive 11,000.

Developed in response to COVID-19, the webinars have rapidly developed a solid reputation amongst the design and build professionals.

Back in April, the decision was taken to adapt the popular face-to-face WoodSolutions seminars to an online format due to social distancing restrictions. Since then, webinars have been hosted at 11am AEST every Tuesday, and the series has firmly cemented its place in the diaries of professionals from across the industry. The diverse program of topics has included everything from tiny homes, to building in a bushfire prone area, acoustic design, designing for durability and much more.

A large portion of the audience comprises structural engineers and architects, with building designers and surveyors, university staff, students and local Councils also strongly represented. Australia and New Zealand account for the vast majority of attendees, but a sizeable international contingent has joined from as far afield as the UK, USA, Canada and Brazil.

  • “The webinar was inspiring and showed amazing projects that can be achieved with timber.”
  • “It was one of the very best in content, format, host instructions I have ever seen. And I do this in New Zealand for mass timber, and have run technical conferences for 25 years! What a fantastic collaboration of speakers with such professional interaction.”
  • “Very innovative and thought provoking, particularly the opportunities for hybrid construction and structures.”

Feedback has been hugely positive, and the online approach has brought with it a number of additional benefits, including the cost-effectiveness associated with hosting a webinar as compared to running a physical workshop or seminar, and the ability to reach a larger audience by removing geographical and capacity restrictions.

Over the coming weeks, the WoodSolutions webinar program offers lots to look forward to, with planned topics including lessons learned during four years of the WoodSolutions Mid-rise Advisory Program; the use of Cross Laminated Timber in residential construction, and Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) fire resistance of timber connections.
