The WoodSolutions Young Professionals Network (WSYPN) has extended its reach beyond Melbourne this year, with a resoundingly positive response to the inaugural Sydney event.
WoodSolutions Cost and Program Estimator, Mid-rise Advisory Program, Laurence Ritchie said the event attracted a large turnout of like-minded young professionals from a variety of disciplines within the design and construction industries.
“While the Melbourne events have been running successfully for six months, we weren’t sure how the Sydney market would respond, so we were thrilled when all tickets were snapped up in just a few days!” said Laurence.
The WSYPN provides young professionals with an opportunity to socialise with peers in the industry while upskilling in the exciting new field of timber design and construction.
The Sydney event featured a special guest presentation from Knut Menden, senior associate at BVN Architecture, who discussed the recently completed works at Our Lady of Assumption Primary School. This project involved an extensive renovation and three-storey extension using mass engineered timber.
As usual, the keynote presentation was followed by drinks, nibbles and great conversation.
The feedback was overwhelmingly enthusiastic, ensuring the WoodSolutions team will return to the harbour city.
“We’re aiming to run one event per month, like our ongoing Melbourne events, featuring special guest speakers from industry each time,” said Laurence.
Registration is free, but compulsory for all those attending. While WoodSolutions’ regular seminars are open to all, the WSYPN events are geared toward early career professionals under 35 years of age. If you or one of your staff would like to stay updated with future happenings in the network, you can join the Facebook group, which functions as a forum and news source for new developments in timber construction.
