Published Date

August 2005

To develop breeding objectives for pine solid wood production this project defined the production system for pine solid wood production; defined breeding objectives through literature review and industry survey; developed a bio-economical model and estimated economic weights for 4 breeding traits (these are mean annual increment, stem sweep, modulus of elasticity, and branch size index); estimated genetic parameters to link early selection and breeding-objective traits; estimated selection indices for three types of pine enterprises; and studied sensitivity of the estimation of economic selection indices to economic, biological and genetic parameter in the bio-economical world.
