The Green Triangle Forest Industries Hub is one of 11 similar organisations funded by the Australian Government to provide it with advice on supporting growth in the forest and wood products sector in key regions. The Hub region encompasses the productive forest areas in south-west Victoria and south-east South Australia and covers the entire value chain from seedling cultivation to final fibre processing. It is a world class forest and wood products region, with 17% of Australia’s forestry plantations (about 328,000 ha in 2019/20). It supports both softwood and hardwood plantations, as well as processing and export facilities in Mount Gambier, Tarpeena, Millicent and Penola (South Australia) and Portland, Myamyn, Warnambool and Colac (Victoria).
