Australia’s unique native and commercial forests are of immense significance and value. However, Australia’s forests are under increasing threats from exotic and endemic pathogens.
Our ability to effectively identify forest pathogens is severely limited due to lack of field deployable diagnostic assays. A paradigm shift is therefore necessary to deliver investment and innovation so that in-field, isothermal diagnostics can be developed for use in nurseries and plantations to detect and identify endemic forestry pathogens.
This is vital to identify disease-causing pathogens sooner to mount responses earlier and avoid significant yield and revenue losses experienced by industry.
