This project is aimed at improving the tolerance of Eucalyptus plantations to Teratosphaeria leaf disease (TLD) using genomics. Disease marker panels developed in this project will be used in operational breeding programs to improve the disease tolerance of Eucalyptus plantations.
This project will build on the outcomes from an earlier project
enabling the efficient use of resources developed in the earlier project.
In this project, novel genes and markers will be identified using whole-genome sequencing in E. globulus and E.nitens. Methods will be developed for integration of the genomic prediction models in operational breeding for improving the disease tolerance of E. globulus and E. nitens plantations.
