Project Details

Project CodePNC649-2324
Project Start DateMay 2024
Completion DateMay 2026

This project examines the current high priority pests for commercial forestry in Australia and identifies additional potential exotic threats to pine and eucalypt plantation productivity.

The project will undertake comprehensive pest and pathway risk assessments for these current and potential threats, including by analysing border and post-biosecurity detections to identify high-risk sites for targeting surveillance, and examining import pathways, commodities, origins, and risk profiles of insects and pathogens at risk of affecting Australia’s forestry industry.

Results will inform surveillance activities towards early detection and eradication, and improve industry mitigation and preparedness planning, including over-the-horizon predictions based on emerging threats in other countries.
