The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) is conducting the next round of its five yearly national survey of Australia’s wood processing sector. The survey is seeking to collect information on the current state of the wood processing sector in Australia, as well as gathering insights into future opportunities and challenges.
The survey is jointly funded by Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) through forest grower and processor levies, ABARES and the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).
Through this survey, ABARES are collecting wood processing data for the 2021–22 financial year, including log input volumes, recovery rates, production and employment. ABARES also has an additional section of questions seeking information on investment plans and opportunities and expected challenges.
Results and analysis from the current survey will be published and used by ABARES to inform government policies and programs for Australia’s sustainable forest industries. A copy of the previous report, from 2016-17, can be accessed here.
ABARES has contacted all participating companies directly via email with a survey form and Data Supply Agreement to ensure all data is collected confidentially. If you have any queries about the survey, or to check if your company has completed the survey, please contact ABARES at ForestStatistics@agriculture.gov.au or Peter Lock at 02 6272 5821, or Mijo Gavran on 02 6272 3725.
