FWPA is seeking nominations for two Non-Executive Directors to join its board in 2020, with expressions of interest open until 10 July.
Each year sees the completion of the three-year terms of some of our Directors.
An independent Director Selection Committee (DSC), established under the constitution, will consider proposals for candidates to be voted in. The Committee consists of representatives from three national associations – the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA), the Australian Timber Importers Federation (ATIF) and the Engineered Wood Products Association Australasia (EWPAA) – and one nominee and one non-voting chair from the FWPA Board.
Three of our Directors are finishing their three-year terms in 2020, namely Jim Henneberry, Brian Farmer and Christine Briggs. Each has only completed two successive terms and so will have the opportunity to re-apply to the DSC.
This year, we are seeking to appoint two Directors to our Board at the upcoming AGM. We are looking for interest from individuals with skills in the following areas:
- Conservation and management of natural resources.
- R&D experience, innovation, technology transfer and commercialisation of R&D outcomes, particularly in respect of agricultural products.
- Commerce, including domestic and international market development, and domestic and international trade.
Prospective Board members will be able to demonstrate strategic thinking and an understanding of financial statements at a Director level. Previous Board experience and/or Australian Institute of Company Directors qualifications will be considered favourable.
The DSC will consider proposals for candidates and make its recommendations for Director nominations to the FWPA Board. The DSC is required to ensure candidates will result in a balanced, skills-based Board.
FWPA has appointed Richard Evans of Talent Nation as the new secretariat to the DSC and a copy of the advertisement can be viewed at
