New podcast series WoodChat by FWPA showcases latest in home-grown industry innovation

FWPA is excited to announce the launch of its inaugural series of podcasts, WoodChat, with one of the first episodes focusing on a new climate model which predicts how climate will impact growing conditions around Australia.

‘Predicting future growing conditions with the click of a mouse’ will particularly interest our R&DWorks readers. It focuses on the work of CSIRO Research Scientist Dr Patrick Mitchell, who discusses a new tool that aims to predict future growing conditions with the click of a mouse.

The tool is designed to increase the industry’s understanding of climate impact and, ultimately, to manage risk and improve productivity.

The WoodChat series will feature fortnightly episodes, representing FWPA’s commitment to exploring new ways of communicating industry news and innovations.

“There is lots of important work happening within our industry in terms of R&D right here in Australia, which is not only of significance to people working in the forest and wood products industry, but also to the wider public,” the Research and Development Manager at FWPA, Chris Lafferty, said.

“There are some really interesting topics lined up, which we’re looking forward to presenting to our audience in an exciting and engaging new way.”

Stay tuned – future topics will explore modern technologies such as drones, genomics research and plans for the National Centre for Timber Durability and Design Life.
