The FWPA Timber Market Index (TMI) development process based on the FWPA Softwood Data Series has reached a significant milestone with all foundation members now agreeing to the terms of the index moving forward, and electing a TMI Steering Committee. Membership is comprised of six representatives, including three representatives elected from the Forest Management Parties, and three representatives elected from the Timber Processing Parties, with members listed below:
Forest Management Parties:
- Shona Heading – HQP
- Sharon Occhipinti – HVP
- Peter Stiles – FCNSW
Timber Processing Parties:
- Scott Bradley – Timberlink
- Joe Carter – AKD
- Grant Muller – Hyne
The first meeting of the TMI Steering Committee will take place early next week, with the main order of business being to oversee the process to appoint an independent Chair for the TMI Steering Committee, a two-year appointment. Once this process is complete, the TMI Steering Committee will work with the independent Chair to publish the first set of indices.
The TMI will be formally launched as part of the next Australian Forest Products Association’s Quarterly meetings in November 2023 as a joint FWPA/AFPA event.
