This study aimed to:

  1. Identify the most best treatments for controlling termites in wood power poles
  2. Reduce the costs borne by power supply companies associated with controlling termites
  3. Identify alternatives to arsenic trioxide dust

Ten different treatments were applied to over 450 poles in a diverse range of environments in NSW. After treatment, poles were inspected 1, 6 and 12 months after treatment to determine treatment effectiveness. All treatments were effective to some extent, and a number were comparable to arsenic trioxide.
