A review of the recent trial of an Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) rope load restraint solution for forestry logs has been completed and results presented. Feedback provided by participants was positive overall, with high levels of acceptance of the system amongst users. Tension tests completed on a small sample of used ropes showed a loss of strength in the rope after 18 and 24 months of use, suggesting a maximum life span of 24 months. Recommendations of improvements to the restraint solution, including increasing the Factor of Safety (FOS) of the rope to 4:1, are also identified.
