Final project workshop: Assessing & managing mid-rotation wood quality

Learn more about this project

Final project workshop: ‘Assessing and managing mid-rotation wood quality in Australian softwood plantations to produce fit-for-purpose logs’ project (PNB548-2021)

Discover how Resisitograph technology is transforming Australia’s softwood industry. This short workshop was held on 21 Aug 2024 and it’s exploring the latest advancements in standing tree wood quality assessment using Resi technology. The final project report will be published later in 2024.

The session covers the following benefits and outputs from this research:

  • Enhance operational efficiency: Streamline wood flow and reduce costs through predictive modelling of wood density, stiffness, and commercial value.
  • Increase commercial value: Optimise log pricing and product yield by accurately assessing wood quality mid-rotation.
  • Drive sustainable growth: Via informed tree breeding and silvicultural practices to future-proof plantations.

Presented by Associate Professor David Lee (University of the Sunshine Coast) and additional speakers.
