Boris’ presentation will discuss the use timber products in both commercial buildings as floor, wall and ceilings lining and structural fire resistant elements in multi-residential buildings. He will also discuss aspects of fire engineering design in relation to timber elements through to the imminent changes to the Building Code of Australia to allow “stick frame” construction in hotel/motel developments.
Boris Iskra has an extensive understanding of the Australian forest and wood products industry with over 25 years of direct involvement. He is the National Manager – Codes & Standards for Forest & Wood Products Australia where his primary role is to coordinate the development and review of Australian timber standards and associated building standards and codes on behalf of the National timber industry. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Structural) degree and a Graduate Diploma in Building Fire Safety and Risk Engineering.
