Biomass to charcoal – prospects for Australian forest industries

Webinar held Wednesday 18th November, 2015, presented by Dr Nawshad Haque, CSIRO Mineral Resources.

CSIRO has developed a novel autogenous pyrolysis technology to convert biomass to charcoal or solid renewable carbon products. 

This charcoal can be used in a wide range of production industries. This presentation will be an overview summary of the technology development over the last five years.  The applicability and opportunities to the Australian forest industries will also be discussed.

Presenter:

Dr Nawshad Haque is Team Leader of Process Evaluation at CSIRO Mineral Resources. His research focus is predominately on techno-economic tools and life cycle assessment methodology. He has a PhD in Chemical Engineering and has had a long association with forest industries to optimise wood drying processes.
