Australia’s commercial forests play a vital role in meeting the increasing global demand for wood fibre. The contribution of small-scale, privately owned forests is an important part of the fibre supply chain. One of the most significant challenges for private landholders and Indigenous forest owners and managers being more actively involved is lack of knowledge regarding the management of plantations and native forests as profitable land uses that contribute to Australia’s future wood fibre needs.
These Private Forestry Guidance Materials aim to break down these knowledge barriers. Developed in collaboration with Greenwood Strategy Solutions and funded by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry, these materials are a comprehensive introduction to the business of commercial forestry, tailored for small-scale private owners of plantations and native forests, as well as Indigenous landowners and forest managers.
