Log Presentation: log damage arising from mechanical harvesting or processing

This study identified the major sources of damage to hardwood sawlogs arising from mechanical harvesting and documented “Best Practice” techniques in use to minimize this damage.

The study reported on the types of sawlog damage occurring through machine harvesting of hardwood trees and its causes; and detailed ‘best practices’ of components of the industry and detailed these ‘best practices’ for harvesting, transport and pre-sawing preparation at sawmills.
